Basic Navigation

This course is aimed at people:

• with no sailing or motor cruising experience
• with experience of inland waters who want to navigate on the sea.

We assume no previous knowledge and cut through the complex methods of navigation to give you the bare minimum to navigate safely in a coastal or estuary environment. Beginning with basic terms, introduction to charts, buoys, navigation, safety, anchoring, tides, electronic navigation, rule of the road, weather and passage planning

Course duration 16 hours of study – 2 hours a week can take 8 weeks, at 8 hours a day can be completed in 2 days
